This is beautiful
I’m a Speech and Hearing Sciences major, which means I’m no expert, but we have been learning about hearing implants and how if adults get them later in life, it can be almost impossible for them to hear normally like an average hearing person can. And it especially would not sound normal the first time she hears herself. She probably just hears high pitch and low pitch noises that are garbled. She wouldn’t be able to hear herself and know what someone else is actually saying. This is especially true if she has been deaf since birth like she says. Her brain doesn’t know what speech sounds like, therefore, how can she understand the woman? On another note, her speech is pretty perfect for being deaf her entire life. In all my observations, I’ve never heard anyone speak without a problem if they are deaf. Usually a person needs to be able to hear themselves to know what they are saying. I guess she is a first.
So that makes me think this might be a hoax of some sort, but I also am no expert, I’m just applying what I’ve learned in classes for the past 3 years.
